Next Steps
Set up a Charity/Trust and Organising Committee
The intention is to set up a registered Charity, recognised by the Charities Commission. This will be a locally run and managed organisation to ensure that it is quick and efficient at responding to the needs of the community. An Organising Committee will be established which will help with the various aspects of this project.
Constitution and Rule Book
A governing document like a constitution or a rulebook will be established to ensure a consistent and governed approach to running the organisation.
Code of Conduct and Procedures
To ensure that the trustees and members uphold the rules and run the organisation effectively, a Code of Conduct will be established and procedures laid out to ensure consistent application of the rules.
Bank Account and Gift Aid
A bank account will be set up to manage any financial transactions. Gift Aid will be set up to maximise the collection of funds towards the establishment and running of the Masjid and the Trust/Charity. The organisation aims to be transparent in its running to the local community.
Collection of Funds
In order to establish the Masjid, funds will need to be collected to secure a property suitable for our purposes. Once we have enough funds and pledges to ensure we can purchase a property and run it for a reasonable amount of time, we can secure a suitable property. That feels like a long way to go at the moment, but Insha Allah with the collective prayers and contributions of the community, we feel confident we can get there. This should be a decision that is collectively made with the consultation of the wider community and decided by the organising committee.
